Blog Post #54- Opening Credits
When creating a film, the actors always have to be credited because without the actors, the film may not have been possible to create. Since I have actors in my film, I realized that they need to be credited some where within the duration of my film.
On iMovie, there is a feature that allows the user to input text onto clips of a film. Since I added opening credits to my film, I needed to use this text feature to add these credits. Since I was the first name that was credited, I had to add another line of text over my name. This is because I wanted text that says "starring" for the purpose of reminding the audience that the names being shown on the screen are the actors that are within my short film. For the effect of the text appearing on the screen, I chose the standard effect on iMovie. The reasoning behind this choice was because I didn't want the credits to be too "flashy" and I thought that the standard transition was a smooth choice with a basic effect that still is visually appealing to the audience.
One issue while creating the opening credits was that text can only be added once to a clip. Since this restriction exists, I had to split one of my clips in to 2 clips for the purpose of being able to add text on the clips. I did this because the text appearing for my opening credits has to appear with each name in a reasonable time frame away from the other name and if I didn't split up the clip, the other names would be shown in a long time after the previous name was shown. This would be an issue because it would make the opening credits more awkward and confusing to the audience.
