Blog Post #43- Editing The Foley Knocks Into My Film
One of the sounds that will be used within my film is the sound of a door knocking. I decided to make this a foley noise because it will make the knocks sound better for the final project then if someone was to just knock on the door.
The first instance of the usage of foley knocking noises is at the very start of my project where Alex is shown waiting for his friends. For the foley sound effect, I was actually able to re use the one that I used as an example for a previous blog that discussed foley sound effects. I used the full length of the audio and inserted it within the first clip of my film using iMovie, which as discussed previously will be where all my editing will commence.
The second instance of the usage of the foley knocking noises is the part in my film where the neighbor knocks on the Alex's front door. Using iMovie, I was able to duplicate the first knocking noise and re use it but I realized that since it was a duplicate they would sound identical. Since I didn't want the noises to sound identical, I shortened the second instance of my foley sound to 2 knocks for the purpose of making the knock sound different to the audience.
Being able to use iMovie to add foley sound effects helps my editing process because it is something that assists me with being able to improve the quality of my film by making sound effects sound better then what they would sound without any editing techniques being used.
