Blog Post #42- Errors Regarding The Filming of The First Scene
I have now successfully filmed all of my short film and now I need to start editing to make sure that my film maintains high quality throughout the entire project. Since filming a scene perfectly on the first try is near impossible I had to re film a few parts of my film a couple of times to make sure that I would get a good clip.
One of the parts of my film that I had a few errors with was the first scene of my project which shows Alex playing a game on his phone when a knock is heard on the door. The first time that I filmed this, I was not utilizing the rule of thirds and this was something that I wanted to use within the film for this scene. Alex also did not look over to the door which needs to be in the scene because a foley door knocking sound will be used to signify to the audience that new characters are being introduced.
The second clip that did not make the final cut had less errors than the first one but still had an error that would not make the final cut. In this clip, Alex is shown in the rule of thirds which is what I intended to have for the clip, but Alex is never shown looking over at the door. This action not being included effects the clip because it would not make sense to the audience that Alex would not look over at the door if he heard a knock.
After making these 2 mistakes, I finally was able to get a clip that did not contain the errors discussed above. This clip had Alex within the rule of thirds, and it showed him looking over at the door.
