Blog Post #39- Planning Timings and Shots
In order to increase my efficiency while filming, I decided that I should plan out timings for all of my shots and have a better idea of the camera angles that will be used for these shots.
First scene: 0:00-0:10
Will show Alex on the couch playing a game and then he will walk over to open the door for his friends. Will use a mid shot in the rule of thirds and a tracking shot.
Second scene 0:10-0:17
Will show Alex's friends walking into his house. Will use an over the shoulder shot to show the individuals walking in.
Third scene 0:17-0:34
Will show Alex and his friends in the living room. They will then walk to the kitchen to grab drinks. Will be recorded using over the shoulder shots and then there will be handheld camera usage. After this a POV shot will be used of all the individuals grabbing the drinks.
Fourth scene 0:34-1:05
Will show Alex and his friends back in the living room drinking the drinks and having conversations. Alex will then turn on some music and they will continue talking. This scene will use over the shoulder shots for the conversations and will use a POV shot to show Alex turning on the speaker.
Fifth scene 1:06-2:50
Will show a knock on the door happening and Alex and his friends will be confused on who is at the door. One of Alex's friends will hide the drinks and Alex will open the door and find out that it is his neighbor. After he finishes his conversation with the neighbor he will go back to talking with his friends. His friends will then leave his house. This scene will be using over the shoulder shots for the conversations and side shots. Close up shots of the neighbor will also be used to emphasize the impact of his dialogue. When the friends are shown hiding the drinks, handheld shots will be used.
sixth scene 2:51-3:52
Will show Alex at his backyard thinking about his actions and what he should do to improve himself. This scene will contain side shots, close up shots, mid shots paired with the rule of thirds, and eyeline matches.
Seventh scene 3:52-5:00
Will show Alex at his backyard following a 2 month time skip where he is now hanging out with new friends and then he gets a text from an old friend getting asked to drink, where he responds with a no. This scene will contain over the shoulder shots, side shots, and eyeline matches.
