Blog Post #30- Testing Lighting
Lighting is another critical element within films because without proper lighting a scene may not come off as how it was initially intended to. I thought about certain lighting that I will be using during the first part of my film.
The first test that I did was my living room with the only source of light being led lights behind the entertainment system. When I tested this, the LED lights did give off a good amount of light but I realized that these could not be the only light source in the living room when I start filming. This is mainly due to the fact that they don't produce enough light to effectively see the faces of the characters so I came to the conclusion that I will need another light source within the living room that is not to bright for the purpose of making the scene easier to perceive and look at.
The light source that I decided to use is a 5 light globe pendent that is in the corner of my living room. My reasoning for using this as a light source is because it produces a good amount of light and less than the living room ceiling lights. I knew that the living room ceiling lights would be too bright for the scene because I do not want the light source to greatly overpower the LED lights.
After picking a light source to be tested, I turned on the globe pendent and the LED lights to see how the living room looked. I think that both of these lights paired with each other provides enough light for the audience to clearly see the characters while not over powering the LED lights as they will be used to correlate with the small party environment that the characters have created.
