Blog Post #25- Editing Software and Filming Device

Since I will have to start filming soon I had to think about what editing resources and filming device I will be using for the purpose of making my film look the most appealing to the audience. I already have a little information on what works and what doesn't work in terms of what I prefer using because I have already filmed an opening scene to a film for my AS level media studies project.

When thinking about what filming device to use, I searched up cameras on google to look at what cameras are available and their prices. I found 2 cameras that which both seemed promising which were priced at $139.96 and $27.88. The more expensive one had 48megapixels while the cheaper one had 16 megapixels. Although these were both good options I had to consider some other factors. One of these factors is that I have a limited budget and buying one of these cameras would effect this budget. This made me think about how I filmed my project from last year with my personal phone, which worked out. My personal phone has 12 megapixels and has many different features available on the camera app to enhance the quality of images so I came to the decision that I could use my personal phone because it should be able to film my project while retaining high quality while also saving funds.

For editing software I was deciding between 2 choices. These choices were Capcut and iMovie. I researched the features that both these software's offer and I realized that both of these editing software's offer very similar features. I did find out that Capcut generally offers a larger variety of templates to use but I do not think that a template will be necessary within the editing process for my film. After I researched the features of these 2 editing software's I decided that I would be using iMovie. I chose this because I used iMovie for my opening sequence from last year, just like my personal phone and I am already familiar with how to use iMovie because of this past experience but I am not as familiar with Capcut as I am with iMovie.
