When creating a new media product there is a key component that is vital to the success to the media product. This component is marketing, which allows audiences to gain awareness of the media product. Since my final project is a short film I needed to think about ways that short films are generally marketed and I found out that Film festivals are one of the ways that short films can gain awareness. 

A film festival is an event where many individuals such as film producers attend to view a variety of films including unreleased films that have not been shown to the general public. Film festivals also offer many other opportunities asides from just simply viewing films. Film festivals offer individuals the opportunity to speak with other creators of media. These opportunities could allow for connections between other media producers to be built and it could also be a welcoming place for new ideas regarding future film projects. At film festivals, individuals can also be given the opportunity to ask people who were involved within a certain films production questions regarding the film such as future plans for the movie or the general plot of the movie. 

A film festival does provide a large amount of benefits, but these benefits can be very hard to gain access to. When trying to get a film to be used within a film festival, many factors need to be considered. One factor is first reading what the requirements are to submit a film into the film festival. This can serve as a guide for someone to make sure that their film has a chance to be considered to be used within the film festival. Recognizable actors within the film can also give individuals a higher chance at acceptance. This is due to audiences enjoying films with actors that they can recognize. The film will also need to be of high quality due to the competitiveness of films that are sent to film festivals. If I can get my short film to a film festival, it can be a great opportunity for marketing of my product and it could grant me the opportunity of meeting other filmmakers who could offer me new ideas and create connections within the film industry.
