Blog Post #10- Production Studio Establishment

All films usually have a production company that is behind the creation of the movie and the release for the movie. Some examples of these production studios could be companies such as A24, Marvel Studios, and Universal. Since I am making a short film I realized that it would be necessary for me to create a production studio that my film could be released under. 

A24 is an independent film company that produces many films that have different genres. Some of the genres that A24 produces for their films are horror, sports, comedy, and thriller genres. Having films that span across a variety of genres can attract more audiences to the production studio then if the studio only focused on one genre. A24 was founded in the year 2012 by Daniel Katz, David Fenkel, and John Hodges. A24 fully handles their marketing decisions and focuses more on marketing techniques such as social media campaigns rather than expensive advertisements for their film releases. This information is beneficial to me because it shows me an example of the processes that production companies are responsible for. This information also shows me that the marketing technique that I want to pursue is similar to the marketing techniques that are used by A24. This allows me to research A24 to be able to accumulate knowledge on how successful social media marketing campaigns can be made given the fact that most of my marketing will be done through Instagram.

Using the service known as Canva, I created a logo for my production studio that will go by the name of "Mesa Studios". My logo shows the title and the letter M in a movie tape. My reasoning for using a movie tape for the logo is because of the association the audience can make between films and a movie tape. I named the studio as "Mesa Studios" because Mesa is my last name. Finally, the M was placed within the movie tape because the first letter of my studio name is an M and the audience can make the connection of the M with the production studio name.
